QuickBooks CSV import: “file too large” (over 350 KB)

QuickBooks Online rejects bank-statement CSV uploads over 350 KB. A full year of transactions from most banks crosses that line, so the import fails before it even starts.

Why it happens

QuickBooks Online caps bank-statement CSV uploads at 350 KB. Bank exports are verbose — long description fields, extra columns, quoted text, balances you don't need — so a year of activity routinely lands between 400 KB and 1 MB. QuickBooks rejects the whole file rather than importing what fits.

The manual fix

The usual workaround is to export in smaller date ranges — month by month or quarter by quarter — and upload each batch separately. It works, but it's 12 exports, 12 uploads, and 12 chances to misformat a date, duplicate a row, or lose track of where you were.

The faster way

StatementFlow drops the columns QuickBooks doesn't need and outputs a lean, correctly-formatted CSV — so a full year usually falls well under 350 KB and imports in one go. Drop your export, pick the QuickBooks preset, download the clean file.

Fix it in one click

Drop your CSV, pick your bank and accounting software, download a file that imports first time. Free to start, client-side, nothing uploaded.
