Starling bank feed not working in Xero

If your Starling feed has stopped appearing in Xero, new transactions aren't syncing and a gap is building. The fix has two parts: reconnect the feed, and backfill what it missed.

Why the feed stopped

Starling's Xero feed runs on Open Banking, which expires every 90 days. Once consent lapses, the feed stops from that date — so nothing since then reaches Xero until you renew the connection.

Reconnecting doesn't close the gap

Renewing restores new transactions but leaves a hole from the stop date to now. You need to import those missing days by hand, without re-adding anything Xero already has.

The fix — import the missing transactions

In the Starling app, export a CSV of transactions for the gap period (Account → Statements → Export). Run it through the Starling → Xero preset and import the clean file — columns mapped, dates in DD/MM/YYYY, ready to reconcile.
